When you hear the words “date night,” clothes such as flowy dresses, frilly tops, and strappy heels come to mind. However, when my husband and I celebrated our first anniversary as a married couple, I decided to go against the norm of “date dressing”. Not exactly deviate from what is usual, but I WORE SWEATPANTS FOR A DATE NIGHT TO A FANCY RESTAURANT! Yep – you read that right. I styled it properly though, of course!
First thing’s first, some details on le date. My husband and I had our fancy dinner date at A Taste of L.A. (or L.A. Cafe) in Tomas Morato. I would write a proper restaurant review if I could, but I’m terrible at that. Nonetheless, it is a great place for date night – quaint, peaceful, has a rustic feel, AND THE FOOD IS DELICIOUS. A bit pricey, but so freaking good!
There were tons of items on the menu that we wanted to try, but ended up with these three dishes: Garlic Lamb Pizza (Php 590), Spaghetti Maranese (Php 530), and Lazy Beef Fondue (Php 780). I particularly loved the beef fondue because the meat was so tender and was exactly the way I like it! The dipping sauces were good too, but I wish there were more, quantity, not selection-wise. Safe to say that I’m definitely dining there again, perhaps on a lunch date so I could experience the place in daylight! Better pictures, yay!
Going back to the main topic of this post: my outfit. I wore my favorite white top (more like my only “dressy” white top), gray sweatpants, sandals, and clutch bag. I accessorized with perhaps my very first “large” necklace. I’ve been meaning to wear these particular sweatpants with heels just to see the effect, and I love how it worked so well on date night! It’s very unexpected, and I love it. To keep the look balanced (as it should), I dressed up the outfit with my accessories. All other clutches I have are too formal for my liking, but I remember that I looked through Zalora for accessories months back and found this edgy pseudo-clutch bag.
Dressing myself up has always been a favorite thing to do, and finding different ways to style certain pieces always keeps my creative juices flowing. I thought I’ve lost my touch [in styling], but I’m more than glad to be back at it again!
Would you wear sweatpants to a date night? 🙂
