My 2016 new year’s promises include the following: a wardrobe makeover, a revamped blog, and a consistent creative mojo.
A wardrobe makeover
I got a little fashion-crazy when I started working for Forever 21. It was always fashion over comfort – I’d wear a mini skirt and some boots on my commute (jeepneys and buses, mind you!) and I didn’t care at all if people would start to stare. I’d hop on the latest fashion trends and immediately splurge on new arrivals in store. I often described my style as edgy and experimental. All that changed when I became a mom, though. These days, I find it very difficult to get dressed in the morning mainly because there are way too many trendy pieces in my closet that I refuse to wear at the moment. These days I’m more interested in classic and minimalist pieces – boxy dresses, plain tops, tailored shorts, trousers, and some good old jeans. My floral mini dresses are now a thing of the past. So are my bodycon skirts. Maybe I’ll do a blog sale soon – I swear I’ve got a ton to get rid of! Then when my closet finally clears up, I could start building a new wardrobe.
A revamped blog
Months ago I won 115 premium blog themes from a raffle, but I haven’t used any single one of them. I’ve been trying them out though, but none of them achieve the look I’m going for so I always end up with this theme I purchased myself. Oh well, a revamped blog design can wait. BUT – I’ve been meaning to change my style of writing and the way I take my blog photos. Maybe you’ll notice it in my future posts, maybe you won’t.
A consistent creative mojo
As Marketing Manager (and pretty much the entire marketing department – yep, one-man marketing team!) of my current workplace, I’m constantly creating visuals to help make noise for our brand. At times, my brain shuts down and I swear I end the day with nothing accomplished. But today, I sought inspiration from co-bloggers (new favorite: Cocorrina) whose expertise lie in design, typography, lettering, and the like. Photoshop has been my best friend for months now, and although I’ve known how to tweak around it for years, I’ve only actually felt productive with it recently. I think I’ve found a new love in graphic/creative design (!!!) and I can’t wait for the passion to blossom! I’m sensing a career-shift in the near future… hmmm.
